Montis, a leading high-end design furniture maker has always embraced inevitable changes in the market place. Perhaps a key reason for its continued innovative edge since nearly 40 years. The changes in financial climate, housing market and subsequently on furnishing retailers. Eventhough online is growing importance as a channel to market for furniture brands, Montis recognizes that it is the retailers that have ensured Montis’ envied position in the market. Researching the market Montis found that there is a strong link between actual sales and the extend to which its collection is available across retail outlets. Today’s shopper expects furniture to be fully configurable with regards to aspects such as fabrics, textures and legs. The challenge is that not every retailer has sufficient floor space to display every possible configuration.
With the above in mind, Montis has been looking for ways to leverage the growing popularity of digital media to enhance its business in the retail environment. The company wanted a tool for both retail sales staff as well as consumers to experience any configuration of its entire collection. This has lead the company to INDG’s home related platform Amikasa, a platform that allows home related brands to engage consumers with their collections using high end, digital experiences.
Amikasa, an INDG platform for home related product experiences, seemed to be the perfect match for Montis’ ambitions. The platform allows Montis customers to experience any configuration of Montis’ collection in a photo-realistic way on any digital touchpoint. As Montis wanted to equip retail staff and consumers with a simple tool to experience any product configuration, an Augmented Reality app optimized for tablets was being evaluated and ultimately chosen. Montis requested INDG to include the 12 most important chair designs. After rendering the chairs, INDG implemented the models in its Amikasa Augmented Reality App and created a unique Montis branding to ensure the right experience for its consumers.
RESULTS & NEXT STEPS
The Montis app has just been launched in the Apple App Store and is downloadable for all iPads with iOS version and will also be available for Android devices soon.
“INDG’s Amikasa team truly delivered an astonishing experience that is definitely up to par with the unique design and quality that the Montis brand stands for.“, says Paul van den Berg, owner and CEO at Montis. “The app will help both retailers and consumers to experience any possible configuration of textile, color and pattern of the featured products. As such it offers even our smallest retail outlets to sell the full breadth of our collection“.
INDG and Montis are currently evaluating the product and making plans to expand collection featured in the app.
